We concluded the formal business of our September meeting with a parade of THANKS to the teams who maintain the Rutland Public Gardens. These teams spend many hours planting, weeding, challenged to anticipate changing conditions of temperature, precipitation and shade and sun levels over the years, working closely with the Parks and Recreation department staff.

The Federated Garden Clubs of Vermont, one of six (6) state garden clubs in New England, will host the 10th Annual Meeting at the Killington Vermont Grand Hotel Resort on October 13-14, 2026. The Executive Team encourages all Vermont Garden Clubs to take on projects and work to welcome New England Garden Club members to our beautiful state for this truly remarkable event. ​

The Rutland Garden Club has enhanced the Rutland downtown street scene for many years with small gardens in city planters and flower boxes, supported by the Downtown Partnership, Rutland City, and local merchants. Last year we began a new tradition - as a spring transition, we added pansies to the flower boxes, after the winter greens were gone by.
